Songkran Thailand

All countries renowned distinct feast and festivities that we inherit from our ancestors. In Thailand, one of the most populous and renowned festivities is Songkran Festival. This festivity originally brought on the Northern part of Thailand by the Burmese. It is also practice in the countries in the North for instance Burma, Vietnam, Lao State and more. Songkran comes from the Sanskrit word "Samkranti" (astrological passage) which means "a move or change".

Songkran Thailand is renowned for 3 consecutive days and nights starting from April 13 up to 15. It is one of the longest holidays in Thailand. It has similarity in one of the festivity in India known as Holi. You'll be dumbfounded on how Thai commemorate this once a year event. The preparing is really overwhelming!

Thailand Travel

Before the actual start date of Songkran, Thai citizen especially the housewives were busy cleaning their house. All the rubbish in the house must strictly removed. They have this confidence that it might bring them bad luck if they keep junk inside their house. Not only that, all Buddha images must be thought about washed with scented water so that good fortune will truly on their way ahead.

Compared with other festivities that are renowned in Thailand, Songkran is said to be the best! It focuses not on the earthly enjoyment but rather on the spiritual happiness. In fact, during this time traditionalists and religious extremists give their time to visit the Buddhist Monasteries to do devotional prayer. They also offer alms to the monks and feed them during this event. Thai also build chedis or the sand pyramid that is festooned with colorful designs like flowers and flag lets.

Songkran Thailand will never be complete without the Water Battle. For some tourists it is merely throwing water, but to those who understand the meaning of this event it is one way of rejuvenating and cleansing. Since Songkran is known as Thai's New Year, they should renew and cleanse their body, heart and mind for them to receive the overflowing graces for the whole year. For Thais, bad luck is never an option!

Thailand's New Year celebration is one of the most awaited events of the year for the Thai People. It is also known as the Songkran Festival. Unlike on the other countries nearby the world that preeminent New Year on the month of January, Thais' New Year is preeminent on the mid of the hottest month of April.

You might be wondering on how local Thai celebrates this once a year event. On this day, they commemorate the revered Buddha by visiting the monasteries and offer prayers while extending the blessings that they have received by giving alms to the monks after feeding them with the food they prepared. They get ready adequate for this big event by appropriate cleaning of their house beforehand. Thais believe that they have to clean and rejuvenate not only their house but more especially themselves. They remove all the house rubbish and bathe Buddha images so that they'll have successful year ahead.

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival since the former time. It is a celebration that embraces goodwill, love, compassion, and thankfulness, using water as the means of expression. The word Songkran derives from Sanskrit meaning to move or step forward. The first day of Songkran takes place when the sun moves from Pisces into Aries, which marks the New Year's Day according to the Brahmin solar system. Songkran Festival The festival of Songkran falls on the 13th, 14th, and 15 th of April every year. The first day is known as Maha Songkran or the grand Songkran. The Thai government has declared Songkran festival as extended public holidays to enable the people to return to their hometown for family reunions, merit-making and reuniting with others in their community. April 13 th is also declared the Day of the Senior or Elderly by the government. Aytthaya - Capital City Of Thailand

Ayutthaya is an aged capital city of Thailand and it was founded by King Ramathibodi I in 1350. It stayed as the capital of Thailand for nearly 417 years. Ayutthaya was ruled by 33 kings of five dynasties. The city was named for Ayutthaya after the home of Rama from the Indian epic Ramayana, and it means the undefeatable.

During the first 180 years, Ayutthaya was a very peaceful city and did not get into wars with the neighboring countries. The main action of the city was trading. However, after the death of King Ramathibodi I, for the first time, the city got complicated in a war with Myanmar in 1529. Thereafter, the city ended up fighting many wars. Ayutthaya was first defeated by the Burmese in 1569. After fifteen years, the city was regained by the King Naresuan. The city continued to flourish for the next 118 years and after which it was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767. The capital was later moved to Thonburi by King Tuskin who defeated the Burmese. After his reign, the capital was shifted to Bangkok by King Rama I.

The destroyed city was left untouched in the jungle for over a hundred years. Ayutthaya was 85 kilometers from north of Bangkok, where one can still find the ruins of this aged city. The ruins indicate that Ayutthaya was one of the costly cities of Thailand. The city covered an area of 2,556 quadrate kilometers.

In modern times, tourists can conveniently entrance it by road, river, and railways, and it is one of the sublime sightseeing spots of Thailand.
